#selfcare has always been a priority on our list. As self-indulgent as it sounds, we always believe that feeling good and looking good will beget better results in the other aspects of our lives.
So ever since we found out that we can squeeze extra mileage out of our green tea leaves, we have been introducing solitary interludes in between stressful responsibilities to treat ourselves to homemade spa therapy.
Did you know green tea’s antioxidant-rich and anti-inflammatory properties also translate well into topical treatments? When applied it can reactivate cells and fight against damaged skin, which makes it perfect for exfoliation and renewing your skin epidermis. Compounded with coconut oil as a natural moisturiser and sweet ol’ sugar (we recommend finer ones for a gentler scrub) to help retain moisture and enhance cell turnover, you will get the perfect blend that makes a Green Tea Scrub that will leave your skin rejuvenated. If stored properly, these can last for months!
If you have a few minutes to spare, follow these steps:
– 1/2 cup coconut oil, melted
– 1 1/4 cup white sugar
– 1 green tea bag
– 1 teaspoon matcha green tea powder
Directions
1. In a bowl, combine the green tea leaves, matcha green tea powder, sugar, and a dose of coconut oil
3. Grind the mixture until the green tea scrub is of a refined consistency. You can use this immediately or keep it well sealed and stored in a cool and dry place
As a new mom to twin girls, I will definitely try this on my next self care day!
