We’re steadily drawing closer to the start of Singapore Tea Festival and we could not be more excited! If you haven’t heard, this year’s festival will also host a selection of workshops, where attendees can learn from the best in the industry – from traditional tea appreciation to modern kombucha making. If you’re looking for something fun to do, consider these fun and engaging workshops!
Different Colours of Tea, by Pekoe & Imp ($50/pax)
Are you interested in the different teas from around the world? In this two-hour workshop, Pekoe & Imp will take you through the history of tea and introduce you to ten types of single origin teas from around the world. This is a fantastic opportunity to appreciate the variety of flavours that teas can give, as well as to understand the difference between teas from different countries. After this workshop, you can use the $10 voucher to buy your favourite Pekoe & Imp teas or teaware from the workshop.

Introduction to Rock Tea, by CAMELLIA茗岩 ($20/pax)
Have you heard about rock tea? Rock tea refers to tea grown in the Wuyi Mountains of Fujian, China. The terroir at the Wuyi Mountains give these teas an incredible variety, producing teas like the famous Da Hong Pao. If you’re looking to find out more about these teas and how to brew them, look no further. This one hour workshop will introduce you to the basics of rock tea. It also comes with a $10 voucher for you to spend on other Camellia Tea Bar products.

How to Make Your Own Kombucha, by Fizzicle Kombucha ($80/pax)
It’s no secret that kombucha has been experiencing a boom in the past few years. But how do you make kombucha safely at home? Let Melissa, one of the leading kombucha figures teach you. In this one hour workshop, you’ll learn the ins-and-outs of kombucha and what to do to include kombucha into your life. Each participant will receive kombucha samples, their own starter kit, and two bottles of Fizzicle to take home.

Learn to Sign & Reflect with Tea, Led by the Deaf, by Hush Teabar ($50/pax)
Have you been feeling overwhelmed by all the noise of life? Disconnect for an hour as you go learn to sign and reflect with tea, led by the deaf. Put down your mobile phones, learn sign language from their deaf Tearistas and learn to reconnect with yourself. Earplugs will be worn throughout the whole experience to allow you to block out the noise of the world. Participants will also be able to buy five TeaMoods at $100 (usual price $150).

Tea Art Demonstration, by Tea Chapter ($10/pax) (SOLD OUT!)
Learn the basics of tea with Tea Chapter, one of the largest tea houses in Singapore. In this entertaining, four-part workshop, you will learn the history of tea, how it was made, how to make and appreciate tea, and get the chance to try three of their teas for yourself. Be sure not to miss their Imperial Golden Cassia, which was served to Queen Elizabeth II during her visit to Singapore.

Do you know that tea can be classified into six categories by colour? In this engaging, 90 minute workshop, Theanine! Colours of Tea will teach you how the different ways of making tea leads to their different colours. You will also learn about which teas are popular in different countries, and get the chance to sample teas yourself. This is a great introduction to teas and all participants will also receive a $5 to spend on Parchmen & Co. products as well as a tea sample gift set!

Are you interested in calligraphy? If you are, Modern Brush Calligraphy is a one hour workshop perfect for beginners. You can not only learn the fundamentals of calligraphy, but also take home two hand painted quotes, a portable palette, and a worksheet for practice. Learn the fundamentals of watercolours in this workshop designed for beginners. Participants will take home a palette, personalised bookmark with their name, watercolor samples, and a goodie bag packed with floral samples!

How do you describe the smell of tea? Nice? Not nice? Expand your tea-vocabulary with this forty-five minute workshop. Australian Tea Masters will teach you how to identify and name the different scents present in tea, allowing you to better appreciate the nuances between different types of teas.
